1 FACT AND OPINION TUTORIAL Created by Jessie Bush

2 WHAT IS A FACT? A fact is something that can be proven. Example: Beluga Whales are nicknamed ‘Sea Canaries’.

3 WHAT IS AN OPINION? An opinion tells what someone feels, believes, and thinks. Example: I think the Killer Whale is beautiful.

4 BINKY’S FACTS AND OPINIONS On this website Binky will discuss the difference between facts and opinions.

5 Francine and Buster will ask you a fact or opinion statement, it is then up to you to click on fact or opinion.

6  Correct Responses  Incorrect Responses When you select the correct response you are rewarded with a great job and a screen that explains that your answer is correct! When you select an incorrect response you are given a screen that states, “Oops!” When you click on the learn more option it will restate what a fact or opinion includes.

7 Once you have five correct responses you are rewarded with a video clip from Arthur. When the video is complete you need to select the green ‘Back to Game’ arrow, if you wish to play some more.

8 READING COMPREHENSION- FACT AND OPINION BY SMARTTUTOR.COM On this website Mr. Riveria helps his students to learn about fact and opinion through Bow’s report on Jackie Robinson.

9 Click on the sound button if you want to listen to Bow’s report on Jackie Robinson. When you have listened to or read the report and would like to move on click on the ‘Next’ button or the arrow.

10 Mr. Riveria and Bow then explain the difference between fact and opinion.

11 It is up to you to decide if Bow’s note cards from his report on Jackie Robinson are facts or opinions by moving the hand under the correct choice, then clicking the correct response.

12 Click on the ‘?’ to have the program restate what fact or opinion mean. Click on the picture of the book to hear or see the story again. Click the ‘DONE’ button after you have selected your choice.

13 Correct ResponsesIncorrect Responses If the answer is correct Bow will restate why it is a fact or opinion. If the answer is incorrect Bow will explain what the correct answer would be, and the vocabulary on the notecards will be highlighted.

14 SOCIAL STUDIES SKILLS TUTOR- FACT AND OPINION This website contains fact and opinion history passages. Passages are to be read and the correct label must be dragged to the appropriate sentence.

16 The tutorial will go through the passage sentence by sentence and describe why each sentence is a fact, opinion, or contains both. Next click on the practice button.

17 The narrator will read the directions to you and ask you to read the passage. Drag the correct label to the box then click ‘check answers’. If everything is correct a box will pop up stating, “Correct!” or “Try Again”. After these slides their will be one more practice passage.

20 At the conclusion, Click ‘Main Menu’ when you are prompted. If you are up to a challenge Level 2 is similar. The difference is that you have to click on the clue words in any opinion sentence.

21 TOON UNIVERSITY FACT AND OPINION This website is a game that contains statements of fact and opinion. Select the correct answer and get the opportunity to shoot the target with a tank!

23 Click on the correct answer for the statement. If you choose the correct answer you get to direct the tank and shoot at the target. If you choose an incorrect answer the response “Try Again” appears.

24 At the completion of the game it tells your score. In this case it tells what a bad shot Mrs. Bush has and asks you if you want to play the game again!

28 STUDY ZONE FACT AND OPINION This website provides statements that are fact and opinion. Click on the ‘think’ box and type in a ‘f’ for fact or an ‘o’ for opinion.
