Act II

Scene 1

Setting- Near Capulet’s Orchard Characters- Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio In Scene 1, Romeo is now over Rosaline, but now has a new love and her name is Juliet. Well Mercutio and Benvolio still think he is upset over Rosaline, choosing to be a nun instead of loving Romeo. Mercutio and Benvolio are making fun of him without him knowing. Mercutio is calling him names such as, Humors, Madman, Passion, Lover.

Scene 2

Setting: Capulet’s Orchard Characters: Romeo, Juliet, and Nurse In Scene 2, Romeo snuck into Capulet’s Orchard to see Juliet one last time. He gets in there and talking to himself about how beautiful she is and then Juliet comes out on the balcony and is talking to the stars and she says every good thing you can say about someone about Romeo, without knowing he is there. Well he is just listening and finally speaks up. Well then Romeo is trying to talk Juliet into marrying him, but she wants to wait but she finally gives in and they will be married a couple of days after meeting.

Scene 3

Friar Laurence is a priest and a friend to both Romeo and Juliet Romeo visits Friar Laurence at his cell He tells him he has forgotten all about Rosaline and is now in love with Juliet Tells Friar they wish to be married Friar agrees to marry them because he thinks it will end the feud between the families

Scene 4

Mercutio and Benvolio are teasing Romeo about Rosaline because they don’t know about Juliet Romeo jokes around with them They are all wound up The nurse comes and they all tease/ insult her Romeo gives the nurse money when the other guys leave and then she likes him He tells her the plans (about getting married) The nurse is Romeo and Juliet’s messenger

Scene 5

In scene 5 Juliet is in the orchard of her home In scene 5 Juliet is in the orchard of her home. She begins to worry about where the nurse is because she sent her over 2 and a half hours ago to find Romeo. When the finally returns Juliet presses the nurse to tell her what Romeo had told her. The nurse doesn’t tell her anything at first. She ignores Juliet's urgency and goes on about how tired she is. Finally she breaks and tells Juliet Romeo’s plans for them to marry. They will meet at Friar Laurence's cell where they will marry. Then once it is dark the nurse will put out a ladder for Romeo to climb up and be with Juliet.

Scene 6

In scene 6 Romeo and Juliet meet at Friar Laurence’s cell In scene 6 Romeo and Juliet meet at Friar Laurence’s cell. They speak briefly to the Friar and then he marries them. Also in this scene Romeo again hints to how in love they are and that they will die loving one another.

Character Motivation

Romeo- To marry Juliet; love. Benvolio- To make sure he stays happy because he doesn’t know about Juliet; he wants things back to normal Juliet- To marry Romeo; love. Tybalt- To get rid of Romeo Nurse-Send messages to Juliet and Romeo from each other; help them marry; money and love. Peter- To aid the Nurse in her duties Mercutio- To joke with Romeo and keep him happy; he doesn’t know about Juliet. Friar Laurence-To wed Romeo and Juliet to stop the fighting between the families
