10 Act 2 Summary Overview: Scene 1: Mercutio and Benvolio can’t find Romeo. They make dirty jokes, then assume Romeo’s gone home. Scene 2: The Balcony Scene in which Romeo overhears Juliet’s soliloquy, then they confess their love for one another. Scene 3: The next day, Romeo goes to Friar Lawrence asking to be wed. The Friar scolds him for being so quickly in love and warns him that it could be dangerous. He agrees to marry them because he thinks it might end the feud between Montagues and Capulets. Scene 4: The Nurse has come to talk to Romeo in the Streets. Mercutio makes some rude sexual jokes, calling the nurse Romeo’s prostitute. Romeo tells the nurse that he wants to marry Juliet. Scene 5: Juliet impatiently waits for her nurse whom she sent to meet Romeo 3 hours early. The Nurse returns and teases Juliet for making her walk so long, then finally reveal that Romeo will wed her this afternoon. Scene 6: Rome and Friar Lawrence are waiting for Juliet to arrive in the church. Romeo says he doesn’t care what will happen next, because nothing could be better than the joy he feels now.
