Educational Technology “Enhancing education through technology”

What is Educational Technology all about?

Educational Technology Educational Technology – is a holistic application of learning theories to enhance communication through the use of instructional tools to impact learning and its assessment to develop 21st century skills.

Educational Technology Use of technology in supporting learning process. It refers to how people utilize their inventions and discoveries to satisfy their needs and desires such as in learning.

Educational Technology It is merely concerned with technology as It impacts upon the learning process such as in: Delivering learning materials Facilitating communication Providing assessment and feedback.

Educational Technology It is the application of scientific findings in our method, process or procedure or working in the field of education in order to affect learning. It is also a field study and profession.

Educational Technology It embraces curriculum and instructional design, learning environment and theories of teaching-learning. It is the use of all human inventions for teachers to realize their mission to teach in order that students learn.

Technology in Education “ The application of technology to any of those processes involved in operating the institutions which house the educational enterprise”. It includes the application of technology to food, health, finance, scheduling, grade, reporting, and other processes which support education within institutions. The audio visual aids, software and hardware as learning materials.

Roles of Educational Technology in the Teaching – Learning Process Traditional role - delivery vehicle for instructional lessons - learner learns from the technology and the technology serves as a teacher - technology is seen as a productivity tool

Roles of Ed tech in the teaching-learning process…. 2. Partners in the learning process (constructivist) - technology is a tool to learn with, not from - makes the learner gather, think, analyze, synthesize information and construct meaning with what technology presents - technology serves as a medium in representing what the learner knows and what he/she is learning
