Scannable Resumes Standard fonts between 10 and 14 points Italics and underlining cause problems for the scanner. Use boldface for emphasis. Avoid vertical and horizontal lines. When used, leave a least a quarter of an inch of space around the line. Avoid graphics, shading and shadowing. Do not double space within sections.
Scannable Resumes Resumes should be original and printed with a laser printer on white or light colored 8 1/2-x 11-inch paper. Print on one side only. Resumes that have been folded, stapled or other wise mutilated will not scan well. It is imperative that you describe your skills and accomplishments using the language of your profession.
