North Side Elementary School Dr. Mary Nardo, Principal North Side is making AYP. In addition to making Adequate Yearly Progress for the year, North Side has been awarded as a PDE School of Academic Excellence for making AYP for the third year in a row!

North Side Elementary Dr. Mary Nardo, Principal Trends: Majority of students in Advanced Proficient and Proficient categories in Mathematics and Reading All students (with the exception on 3 students) scored in the Proficient and Basic levels in Writing for the last 3 years

North Side Elementary Dr. Mary Nardo, Principal Areas of Strength Statistically significant number of students in the advanced math level at all grade levels 3 rd, 4 th, 5 th grade daily schedule includes an entire classroom of students being taught at least a grade level above in math Although a Targeted Assist Title School, 123/531 students living below the poverty level, the academic rigor in delivery of the daily curriculum and student overall assessment performance remains at or above the PA State Standard

North Side Elementary Dr. Mary Nardo, Principal North Side Building Goals for the School Year Academic Goal: Eliminate all Below Basic students (including ESL and IEP students) in performance categories for Reading, Math and Writing on the PSSA in grades 3, 4, 5 Climate Goal: Expand the Anti-Bullying effort from identification what bullying behavior to empowering the bystander and helping students to report bullying to an adult immediately when it occurs Parental Involvement: Increase the parent involvement to include all parents, as well as expand our Community Partners work with businesses in the community including but not limited to recruitment of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, UPS and Giant Foods career to work partnerships. Professional Development Goal: Provide research-based professional development and common planning times in place of the traditional staff meetings to support teachers as they collaborate and plan for consistent and pervasive teaching and learning across their grade level Technology Goal: Expand the use of our North Side Technology Integrator to enhance teaching and learning through the use of appropriate integrated technologies
