Toroid Updates P1/P2 – Keep remaining hardware. M1/M3 Update – Toroid models: The large aperture Pearson 7737s (10.75" aperture), which were at 704, 724 and 806. We have four of the smaller aperture Pearson 3100s (3.5" aperture), which were at 105, 109, 733 an 910. We may also have three more small aperture 3100s (the ones replaced by the 7737s). – Plan: Re-use existing toroids. Tor105 (small) - leave as is. Tor109 (small) – Move to the upstream M3 line in the 705 location. This is a new installation. Tor704 (large) - Leave near present location in the M2 line immediately downstream of VT804. Tor724 (large) - move to immediately upstream of the abort block in the abort line. Tor733 (small) – Leave in the abort line as-is. Tor910 (small) – Leave near it’s current location in the M3 line near SEM740. Tor806 (large) – Will replace Tor109, relocated to just upstream of PQ8. – Cabling Will use Burndy connectors instead of twinax in high radiation areas. They are more robust and are easier to troubleshoot. We will replace some cables and connectors.

M3 BPM Updates M3 BPM Design – The AP3 line has 29 BPMs, but the new M3 line will have 52 quads. Original quotes were made prior to the beam line design and we hoped to just re-use the existing system and use cable extenders to reach new quad locations. – F27 has 10 BPMs (5 transition boards, 3 Echotek digitizers) – AP30 has 19 BPMs (10 transition boards, 5 Echotek digitizers) Each house has a potential of 24 BPMs (12 transition boards and 6 Echotek digitizers). This would give us coverage of 48 out of the 52 quads. – New plan will have the additional cost of pulling and terminating new BPM cables. – Peter found eight 4 channel transition boards and 9 Echotek digitizers. Could add 2 transition boards and one Echotek digitizers at AP30. Could add 7 transition boards and tree Echotek digitizers at F27. Unexpected free stuff! – We may need to build a couple transition boards (no spares) at ~$2K each. – Cables Pull cables for new BPMs. Extend existing cables with bullets if necessary. ¼” Heliax is $1/ft to $1.20/ft Connectors are $12 to $22 each. – Racks F27 and AP30 BPM racks remain in their same locations Route from AP30 service building to the AP3 line will change. Unexpected addition due to D30 straight section reconfiguration.

Beam Line BLM Update P1 Line – Ion Chambers remain the same. – Original plan was to upgrade the hardware to an available beam line BLM system. – Inventory of collider BLM hardware shows that we have enough of the newer VME-style BLM electronics to upgrade. Unexpected free stuff! – The only question is obtaining digitizer cards. – Randy met with Craig and they think they can find spares. – If that is the case, then upgrading will be straight forward. It is only a matter of changing out the electronics upstairs. This effort should only take about three days. P2 Line – Ion Chambers remain the same. – Switchyard is upgrading to the Tev VME system. This will cover the originally planned upgrade of this system. Unexpected free stuff! M1 Line: – Use the existing 24 AP1 line BLMs. Keep the ion chamber hardware as-is, and upgrade the electronics by repurposing existing BLM crates. M2 Line: – No BLMs M3 Line: – Use the existing 26 AP3 line BLMs. Keep the ion chamber hardware as-is, and upgrade the electronics.

SEM/Multiwire Update Re-use existing hardware and electronics. Used a hardware test system that was already built for g-2 SEM testing (M2 and M3 line).

Controls update

Controls & Instrumentation Implementation Beamline Instrumentation and Controls ($594,119) Beamline Instrumentation and Controls Design ($391,755) – Beamline Tordoids Implementation ($60,273) – Beamlines BPMs Implementation ($41,041) – Beamlines BLM Implementation ($132,914) – SEM & Multiwire Implementation ($34,379) – Controls Implementation ($23,412) Implementation tasks are scheduled to start in February Most are scheduled to finish by April Change request will go in prior to the February start.

Conclusions Instrumentation Coverage – BT : Beam line Controls and Instrumentation: Covered by me. – BT : RR to P1 Stub Instrumentation is not covered by me. Overall we are behind schedule, but are ok because we have three months of float. Our biggest challenge is competition for resources which drives why some work has a slightly delayed start. We have a few items that actually reduced our cost and overestimated some of our design labor in areas where we are repurposing unused collider equipment. The activity that will need to be watched most carefully is the beam line BPMs. Specifically the M3 line BPMs. We will examine the schedule and may have an implementation change request for un-started activities after the first of the year.
