Whirligig Quote Quest For each of your assigned heroic journey stages, find at least two great quotes that support Brent being on a heroic journey. Give page #s. Group 1: 1-3 Group 2: 4-6 Group 3: 7-8 Each person in the group must participate. The recorder is also the presenter. All others are dividing the pages to look for quotes. Group 4: 9-10 Group 5: 1-3 Group 6: 4-6

Now What? First, choose a quote from each poster to add to the appropriate paragraph. You need one quote per paragraph. Choose the one that best supports what you wrote already. Next, choose a lead word to weave your quote into your paragraph.

NOTES: Parenthetical Documentation When you use a quote OR a paraphrase in your paper, it must have a set of parentheses ( ) with the page number where you got the quote. The period comes at the end. Examples: Brent discovers the he is crossing “the River Styx” (24), which begins his journey into the life of a whirligig- maker. OR Brent begins his journey as a whirligig-maker when he crosses “the River Styx” (24).

NOTES: Works Cited Page When you use a quote OR a paraphrase in your paper, you must tell (cite) the place you got it. Depending on the source you used, you will cite it a certain way. The works cited is the last page of your paper and is numbered/double-spaced just like the rest. For a book, we do this: Author’s Last Name, First Name. Book Title. City of Publication: Publisher Name, Year.

Sample Works Cited Page Works Cited Bookworm, Ima. Love to Read. Atlanta: Sequoyah Press, **If you used more sources, they would be listed in alphabetical order, and the lines would be indented the same way.
