1 MLA Citations – quotes USING CITATIONMACHINE.NET TO CREATE IN-TEXT CITATIONS AND YOUR WORKS CITED PAGE ENTRIES

2 Here is the scenario… You need to reference a quote for your paper You’ll need to make an in-text citation AND reference your source in a works cited page

3 Let’s use a quote from page 16 of The Catcher in the Rye. “I’m the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It’s awful…”

4 First, access citationmachine.net Your page should look like this.

5 You will find MLA on the menu on the left.

6 Now, you need to select the type of resource to document from the menu on the left.

7 For this example, we will select the book option.

8 Using the book’s title page, fill in the following prompts.

9 Author’s name Publisher’s name and city Edition and date of publication

10 Now that you have all of the required information filled in (correctly capitalized and spelled), press the “Make Citation” button

11 Your result should look like this. The first citation is included in your works cited page. The second citation is an “in-text” citation.

12 Copy and paste The citation into your works cited page The in-text citation into the text of your paper where your quote came from.
