Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program Partners Purpose: provide a community-based travel baseball program for Libertyville youth baseball players.  Libertyville Little League  Slammers Training Academy

Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program Mission of Libertyville Youth Baseball  Develop fundamental baseball skills while participating at a higher level of competition.  Introduce age appropriate (ages 8 to 14) situational training to teach the game of baseball.  Utilize playing dimensions that support progressive development of the player from age 8 to 14.  Create a fair and unbiased player selection process that allows all interested players equal opportunity to compete for a spot on an LYB team on a yearly basis.  Develop teams that represent the Libertyville community with pride and model respect for others in both winning and losing.

Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program Age Specific Programs  Develop fundamental baseball skills while participating at a higher level of competition. LYB will typically field two travel teams for 8U-14U:  8U. Introduction to travel baseball. Participate in 2 travel tournaments after completion of the LLL single A season.  9U-10U. Players split into 2 even teams. Travel play focused on tournaments (6-7). Players participate in LLL league play (AA, AAA). Teams will host the 4 th annual Memorial Day at Butler Lake. Targeting ~ 30 travel games.  11U-12U. Players split into A/B format. Travel play focused on tournaments (6-8). Players participate in the LLL Majors or Varsity for league component. 12U Orange will travel to Omaha for College World Series Tournament. Targeting ~ travel games.  13U-14U. Players split in A/B Format. Travel play consists of both travel league and tournaments. Home fields are Butler Lake juniors field and Nicholas Dowden. Targeting travel games. Teams may host a tournament in Libertyville. Eligibility for LYB (8U-12U) programs requires registration and participation in LLL.

Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program  Introduce age-appropriate (ages 8 to 14) situational training to teach the game of baseball. LYB has partnered with Slammers to provide training for coaches, winter team training, and assistance with our fall program (8-11U). LYB is working closely with LLL to increase the level of competition in the LLL Majors division. LYB will implement a formal program for managers to provide feedback to players (twice per year in 2010). LYB will use non-parent professional trainers as managers for 14U teams. Age Appropriate Training and Development

Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program  Utilize playing dimensions that support progressive development of the player from age 8 to 14. LYB is working very closely with LLL on field utilization issues:  The Village has limited field space to support youth activities. Many youth sports programs are vying for access to Libertyville fields.  The Village has partnered with LLL for nearly 60 years to provide fields that support youth baseball activities to more than 1100 Libertyville kids.  LYB has partnered with LLL to establish a strong community-based youth baseball program that efficiently uses Libertyville fields LYB has worked with LLL to establish fields (70/48) that support playing full rules baseball (leadoffs; steals; etc.) at age 11-12U. LYB will utilize age specific field progression [9U (60/46); 10U (65/46); 11U-12U (70/48); 13U (80/54); 14U (90/60)]. Field Utilization

Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program  Created and implemented a fair and unbiased player selection process that allows all interested players equal opportunity to compete for a spot on an LYB team on a yearly basis. Manager feedback solicited in the form of player ratings based on performance in the previous season. Tryout process utilizing unbiased independent baseball experts to evaluate players skills in hitting, fielding, and pitching. Comparison of manager feedback and tryout scores to ensure that appropriate list of players is called back for head-to-head evaluation. Call-back tryouts with independent evaluators to establish the players that qualify for the final roster spots. Player Selection Process

Libertyville Youth Baseball – 2010 Program  Develop teams that represent the Libertyville area with pride, and respect for others in both winning and losing. All player and coaches must sign and adhere to Codes of Conduct. LYB strives to identify coaches that are effective teachers of the game and demonstrate behavior that makes them good role models for youth players. LYB seeks to establish strong relationships between players and coaches. Program feedback from parents is welcomed (feedback form and protocol will be posted on the LYB website). Represent the Libertyville Area
