 Copyright: is the rights of an owner/creator of a work to make copies, license, and otherwise use their works  Fair Use: is the rules under which someone else can copyright materials and not have to pay royalties to the person who owns the copyrights

CopyrightFair Use  Copyright is the owner’s right to use their work in any way that they see fit.  Fair Use is the limitations on how other people may use the copyrighted works without having to pay royalties to the owner/copy righter of the work.

 What is Plagarism? ◦ An act of copying or otherwise closely imitating someone else’s works (language or thoughts) without getting prior authorization from the copy righter and/or the presentation of that author’s work at his/her own and not giving credit to the original author.

 1. Request information from the owner/copy righter before using their work.  Reference the site by it’s URL and owner’s name.

 1. Virus protection software and keep it updated.  2. Use anti-phishing software and keep it updated.  3. Download only from reputable sites  4. Identity TheftReputation Management  Do not give out personal information online.  Monitor your personal information regularly.  Don’t use paswords that can be easily guessed or figured out  When signing up for things online, read the fine print.  See where you stand, google yourself.  Set up a google alert when your name is searched.  Contact website owners for removal of unwanted information.  Purchase a domain with your name and create a website.

 Nettiquette is basically manners for the internet. It is ruls for how you should behave while online.

DODON’T  Identify yourself in communications.  Respect other people’s privacy.  Use proper grammar and spelling.  Acknowledge and respond to messages in a timely manner.  Use sarcasm.  Send junk mail, spam, or chain letters.  Be rude or use inappropriate language.  Type in all CAPS
