Geography Population Introduction: -7 million Sudanese people have been forced to move in the last 25 years -52% are Black African, 39% African Arabs -70% are Muslim, 5% are Christian -South Sudan became a separate country in 2011

Geography Population [A] Civil War (South Sudan) lasting 22 years between the Central Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Army. [B] Forced to move as they are in fear of their lives. [B] Cannot farm in a war zone

Geography Population [A] There have also been many other conflicts [B] Fighting between Arab herdsman and black farmers has forced move to Darfur [B] Ethnic Cleansing (homes and crops burned, raped and tortured) [B] Fighting on the border

Geography Population [A] Famine and drought [B] Prolonged drought = famine [B] No harvests = no food [B] The lack of water and good farmland partly to blame for fighting.

Geography Population [A] Many people move to Refugee Camps [B] No sanitation, medical supplies, little food, water or shelter. [B]No way of making a living. [B] USA agreed to take many of the people and others left as conditions were no better there.
