Parts of a Sentence Look Again Lesson 4

Parts of a sentence! Every sentence has two parts. A sentence must be a complete thought. The subject of a sentence is the naming part that tells WHO or WHAT The predicate begins with the verb and is the telling part. MOST of the time, the subject can be found at the beginning part of a sentence.

Examples: The game of soccer is played around the world. The subject is underlined once. Many dogs run and play in the yard. The predicate is underlined twice.

Tell your partner the subject and predicate in each sentence: 1. The school is over at 2PM. 2. The girl writes a story after lunch. 3. Many toys are spread all over the carpet.
