Presentation transcript:

 I thought since in the class we are reading a book called Because of Winn-Dixie, and it mentioned the civil war so I thought I should right a report about it with some facts since I am from America.  Enjoy!

 It was the bloodiest fight in all of American history killing over 902 thousand people.  3.5 to 4 million people fought in the war isn’t that CRAZY? We are very vicious people huh?  The most common death was disease from eating something called Johnny Cakes.

 The president at the time of the civil war was Jefferson Davis.  He was a good president and tried to stop the fighting but it just started over again.  When the war finally ended he was very relieved when the war ended, but he was also mad that this country of freedom and peace could fight about something like this.

 The civil war went on from 1838 to  That’s 7 years!

 After the raging war was over the North side ( my side ) won, and all the slaves were set free.  Before the war there were a lot of blacks who stood up for their rights in this country.  At that time no blacks and whites were allowed to be on the same bus with each other, a black woman got onto a bus of whites and refused to leave she went to jail and died there nut in the court room she said one thing,’ it’s just ridiculous, I can’t wipe my shoes if a white is around I am going to fight for my freedom as long as I live.’ Many people looked up to her as if she had shown them a new door, and in some ways she had.

 Most of the soldiers of the civil war never got to see there families or friends or even siblings again because they either died on the battle field, died of a sickness, or your family was blown to bits by the other side.  Even when the North side won the slaves were still treated poorly just because there color. Only the law was keeping them from beating the slaves with pans.

 I hope you enjoyed my slide! Watch out BANG! By ~ Aeron
