2. Abraham Lincoln  He freed the slaves. He did it because he thought slavery was wrong. He was the President and he out ruled slavery in the north and started the Civil War. Then the Union won and slavery ended.

3. Martin Luther King Jr. HHe was a part of the March on Washington and made a famous speech called I Have A Dream. He was black so tried to make equal rights. It effected other black people by helping stop segregation.

4. Jackie Robinson HHe broke the baseball color barrier. It effected other black people by helping them believe whites and blacks can play baseball together. It allowed other black people to play baseball with white people.

5. Rosa ParksRosa Parks  She refused to give up her seat to a white man on a bus. She did it because she didn’t believe in segregation. It effected other black people by telling them she believed they shouldn’t have segregation.

6. Oliver BrownOliver Brown  He started the Brown vs. Board of Education. Which then made a law to let black and white kids go to the same school. It let black kids have a chance to go to school with white kids.

7. Nelson Mandela  A black president in South Africa who spent 27 years in jail for standing up to freedom for black people. He freed black people from segregation in South Africa.

8. Ruby BridgesRuby Bridges  First black kid to attend a white school. She opened the door for black kids to go to a white school.

9. Harriet Tubman  She was a slave who escaped and then helped at least 300 more escape. She freed many slaves.

10. Thurgood MarshallThurgood Marshall  He led the Civil Rights Movement and became the first black judge in the US Supreme Court. He allowed other black people to work in the US Supreme Court.
