Good soldier Helped save the life of Elijah Clarke the leader of the battle. Wounded and saved by the Harris family One of the first African Americans in GA to be allowed to own land.

3 African Americans and Britain Britain used a lot of African American soldiers Britain promised African American freedom if they fought in the war on Britain’s side and Britain won the war. Did African Americans who fought for Britain actually gain their freedom?? Why or Why not?

4 African Americans and the US Many leaders in the United States army did not want to use African Americans. Slavery was still legal in all states during the war. At the end of the war the northern states banished slavery and began to allow African Americans to own land. However, even in the North they were not treated as equals.
