Our Mission We, the Thomas Jefferson Middle School Learning Community, strive to excel in learning, to embrace our diversity, and to take pride in our school.

Goal 1 The STLP will develop activities which enhance the academic, social and emotional growth of the student.

Our meetings Funded this year by an Aegon grant, meetings consist of: PowerPoint Programs and presentation formats Videography and digital picture taking Label making and card designs Website critiquing and web quest evaluations Learning how to install computer hardware

Our Goal Since students are able to interact with others interested in technology both within class and after school, STLP students are able to develop friends across grade levels and abilities which otherwise would have been unreachable.

Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students.

Leadership Students are given the opportunity to work with other students and teachers teaching computer programs, such as PowerPoint. One 8 th grade student has even been asked to present at the JCPS principals meeting to demonstrate incorporating PowerPoint into lesson plans.

Goal 3 The STLP will experience multi-age collaboration by forming innovative learning partnerships.

Our Program The students at TJ involved in the STLP program range in age from (2003). These students have a variety of experiences and abilities, including card design and video production.

Goal 4 The STLP will form learning partnerships between students with different technology skills.

The Mix Around 350 students are mixed across 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th grades. These students have a variety of abilities and talents that mix together to create a successful STLP program.

Goal 5 The STLP will develop activities which will benefit the community.

Cards and Letters As part of our commitment to involving students with the community, we are making cards and letters using new software for a local nursing home.

Goal 6 The STLP will develop instructional activities which integrates technology and benefits the school while support KETS.

HyperStudio 4.2 Four students were selected to design a HyperStudio presentation that was interactive including the use of slides, worksheets, examples and graphic organizers that focused on improving writing skills based on our CATS assessment needs. The students then presented their projects to all of the language arts classes, resulting in a stepping stone for future portfolio work.
