Pros Large renewable resource Creates several products (electricity, heat, biogas, fuel) Can have negative fuel costs Cost is effective Unlike fossil fuels, biomass does not increase carbon dioxide emissions & does not contribute to the risk of global warming.

Cons Pollution Food shortages & increased prices Expensive The set up of a biomass power plant requires huge space and the recycling of wastes requires a large amount of water
