1 Biomass and Wind

2 What is Biomass Biomass is an organic matter, such as food or agricultural waste, used as an energy source. Biomass is a renewable form of energy that is made by plant material and animal waste. A plant takes in energy from the process of photosynthesis; the energy is stored and is released when the plant is burned. Some kinds of biomass can be converted into liquids called biofuels; that powers cars, tractors, etc.

3 Pros and Cons of Biomass
Pros Cons Renewable energy source result in deforestation and Production is caused by more emissions of greenhouse waste gases safe, effective, good results Expensive for set and usage - Produces nitrous oxide, methane, and carbon dioxide

4 Where is Biomass used? Biomass is used mostly in developing countries.

5 Is Biomass Viable? Biomass is viable, it is one of the most commonly used renewable forms of energy. Biomass is used because it does not cost much and is 15% of the worlds supply of energy and 35% in developing countries.

6 Long Term Outcome of Biomass
When biomass is burned it releases large amounts greenhouse gases that warms the Earth. When the Earth is beginning to get hotter from global warming, can lead to more common and bigger fires. The gases that biomass burning releases into the air affecting humans respiratory system. The burning can release the same amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in hours as 100 years can.

7 What is Wind Energy? Wind energy is created by wind turbines and converts the kinetic energy that is formed into mechanical power which can be used to power homes, building, etc.

8 Pros and Cons of Wind Energy
Pros Con Does not cause pollution Expensive to make and install Large potential Wind turbines are a threat to Renewable and no way to run wildlife out of it Some people don’t like the Space Efficient look of wind turbines Does not cost much and Wind turbines are noisy for prices are expected to decrease people who live close to them

9 Where is Wind Energy used?
Wind energy is used in many places in the world. Some countries that use a lot of wind energy are Spain, Germany, Denmark, United States, India, and Australia.

10 Is Wind Energy Viable? Wind energy is one of the best ways to get energy, because it does not produce any and toxic pollution and does not contribute to global warming emissions. This make wind energy a viable source of energy.

11 Long Term Outcome of Wind Energy
Wind energy does not create any pollution which is good for the environment. The price of wind energy is not expensive and the price is expected to continue to decrease, and the use of Wind energy is expected to increase.
