Presentation transcript:

Can you remember… something you need to do today? something you did at school last week? something you need to do before Friday? the date of someone’s birthday in your family? your first day at school? the best lesson ever at school? someone doing something kind to you? a time when you really laughed? a time when you were really upset and sad? when you forgot to do something? when someone made you feel proud?

Can you remember… someone you used to know but do not see any more?

Make me a channel of Your peace

Where there is hatred let me bring Your love Where there is injury, Your pardon Lord And where there’s doubt, true faith in You

Oh Master grant that I may never seek So much to be consoled as to console To be understood as to understand To be loved as to love with all my soul

Make me a channel of Your peace Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope Where there is darkness, only light And where there’s sadness ever joy

Oh Master grant that I may never seek So much to be consoled as to console To be understood as to understand To be loved as to love with all my soul

Make me a channel of Your peace It is in pardoning that we are pardoned In giving to all men that we receive And in dying that we’re born to eternal life

A Time to Remember 11 th hour 11 th day 11 th month

A Reason to Remember Nearly 10 million soldiers died in World War One That is nearly 300 people dying every minute for four years Almost 30,000 soldiers died in one hour of fighting in World War One in 1916 Over 55 million people died in World War Two Nearly 111 million people have died in wars around the world in the 20 th Century

The Fallen They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning We will remember them. Laurence Binyon 1914

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields By John McCrae 1919
