2. Anzac's Leaving NZ When the Anzac's were leaving NZ they thought they were off on an adventure. There were big parades with people waving flags and cheering! The Anzac’s were excited, sad and worried.

3. Anzac’s training in Egypt They got to Egypt by boat. The Anzac’s went to train in Egypt in the shadows of the pyramids for five months before heading to Gallipoli.

4. At Gallipoli When the Anzac’s got dropped off at the wrong beach there where was cliffs every where instead of a nice flat beach. Turkish soldiers were firing down at the Anzac’s with guns. The Anzac’s had to build trenches to protect them selves.

5. In the Trenches In the trenches the soldiers had to put up with lice, frogs and rats the size of cats. Some soldiers had trench foot. Trench foot is when your foot rots from cold. The smell was awful over flowing toilets and the men not taking a shower.

6. Leaving war! The Anzac’s finally realised they couldn’t win and they had to leave. The Australians pretended they were playing cricket but they were getting closer off the beach.

8. What is ANZAC Day? What is ANZAC Day? ANZAC Day is when we remember all the people that died in World War One. ANZAC Day is on 25 th of April. ANZAC means Australia and New Zealand Army Corps. There is a dawn service on ANZAC Day. It starts at 5:30 in the MORNING!!!!!

A person called John McCrae wrote a poem about the poppies that weren’t growing on the field before the war started so some people thought they represented the blood of the soldiers that died there.
