Welcome! Teacher: Nichole Witt Course: Pre-AP Language Arts

What to Expect in Pre-AP * More work doesn't mean more learning. * Learning is messy, interactive, and hurts your brain! * Everything we do, and I mean every single thing, should be considered a learning opportunity.

LITERATURE The Giver by Lois Lowry The Giver by Lois Lowry Lord of the Flies by William Golding Lord of the Flies by William Golding The Call of the Wild by Jack London *In addition, kids will need the Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary Level C book, which is available for purchase in our library. **The novels can be found in most bookstores or ordered online.**

Bloom's Taxonomy While a complete education requires us to utilize all levels of questioning and thinking, remaining in what I like to call the "H.O.T. Zone" (Higher Order Thinking Zone) enables our kids to have the most beneficial and long lasting learning experiences. Most major assignments should incorporate some of the higher levels of thinking, including: Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation.

SAT Question of the Day
