Dressing for SUCCESS Presenting a Professional Image

What? Job interview College/technical school visits Meeting new people important to your future Where? Home, school, work, church, social events When? ANY DAY NOW!

Forget Fashion… Think Conservative! Don’t worry about “your” style on these occasions, think about the image that is expected. You will have amble opportunity to be “yourself” once you have obtained what you want and know the rules of the “game”.

Basic rules… Simple, neutral colors -- not flashy Guys: NO JEWELRY, except a watch and/or one ring Gals: NO excessive jewelry, one pair of earrings, one simple necklace, watch, and one ring Make sure other piercing and tattoos are hidden!!!!! And always be CLEAN!!!!!

Wardrobe Basics Khaki, navy, or black slacks and/or skirt White or light blue long sleeve shirt/blouse Golf-type, knit, collared shirt in basic color Solid navy blazer, windbreaker, or cardigan sweater Basic, simple, dark (navy or black) shoes. Gals, go with low heels and closed toes

Make Sure the Fit is RIGHT! NO BAGGY PANTS! NO SAGGING! NO CLEAVAGE! NO BELLIES! When in doubt always think conservative and careful! Always be neat and clean, especially hair, teeth, shoes, hands, and nails.

REMEMBER Never chew gum or smoke Formal wear is for after 6 PM Always try to find out the dress code for where you are going Business casual means a collared shirt, and probably no tie or jacket Business dress usually means a coat and tie for guys and a skirt with jacket for gals

Let’s take a look at a couple of examples…

Remember your manners… “Please” and “thank you” are magic words Know how to shake hands Firm and solid, but not bone breaking Gentlemen Ladies first Open doors Pull out chairs Manners will get you where money WON’T!!!
