Driver education – course objectives State of Delaware requirements –Develop knowledge, habits, skills, attitudes necessary for operating a motor vehicle on our streets and highways –Effect a reduction in accidents, esp. involving teenagers –Establish sound safety principals and fundamentals –Develop a respect for, and an understanding of state and local traffic laws, rules, regulations

Requirements, continued Aquaint with the construction, functions and maintenance of motor vehicles Provide practical driving experience Develop safe drivers and good citizens

class rules Be in class. On-time. In-seat. Ready to work. Attendance – cannot exceed 10 absences (driving or classroom). No music player, food, drinks or gum in classroom or in vehicle. Proper dress, driver education car will be kept cool).

Class rules cont. Respect rights of others – class disruptions will not be tolerated. Assignments – do own work, submitt work when due. Responsible to make-up work. Driving schedule – be on time, ready to drive. Meet in main lobby. Schedule sheet to be signed and bring lesson worksheet. Failure to have teacher sign will negate driving and be unexcused absence (unless for just cause).

Class rules continued Classroom and car – leave it in the condition that you find it!!!! Classroom – bring paper, pencil, notebook, textbook, etc. Be prepared to work, expect to participate in class discussions, work only on driver education. State required driver education notebook State required driver education final exam

Driver Education registration Successful completion of course will result in student earning/receiving a State of Delaware High School Driver Education certificate. –Certificate issuance date – 6 month expiration date –Name must be same as on birth certificate –Address must be ‘current’ –Parental signature required be for ‘officially enrolled in course’
