7 Driver Education Who Needs Driver Education? –Everyone who intends to drive a motor vehicle. –Driver Education is a survival course, teaching beginning drivers skills which last a lifetime.

8 Did you Know??  There are now more than 230 million registered vehicles in the US.  The US has more than 190 million licensed drivers.  Every year more than 6.3 million police- reported collisions occur in the US.  Crashes result in about 43,000 fatalities and nearly 2.9 million disabling injuries in the US each year.

9 Purpose of Driver Education  To produce safer, more knowledgeable drivers.  Save Lives!  Reduce Accidents !  Develop knowledge, habits and attitudes in prospective drivers.

10 What is an attitude? According to Webster’s Dictionary: * a feeling or emotion toward a fact or state * a position assumed for a specific purpose For Driver Education:  Enduring tendencies toward general patterns of behavior while operating a motor vehicle.
