Solutions BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Apple Invest for Learning Program

BYOD Starts in January Responsible use agreement must be filled out and turned in to the school Many free applications are available across different platforms (IOS, Android, Windows)

What’s in the Responsible Use Agreement Must sign and comply with APS Internet Use Agreement Device must be used only for teacher approved school work Vista PEAK is not responsible for lost or stolen devices If there is reasonable suspicion, the teacher may ask to see the students device. At this point the parent or guardian will be contacted. The student may lose the privilege of bringing their device to school. The student may face additional consequences if these rules are broken.

examples of Teacher Approved Learning Activities Use a calculator to check work Check out ebooks from the Vista PEAK ebook library Use Evernote to take notes Use Socrative to take online quizzes and polls Use Edmodo to communicate with the teacher and receive assignments Use the voice recorder to create a podcast or practice reading fluency Use a dictation tool to take notes, set reminders, collect quotes from books Use the camera to take pictures of their work or assignments

Apple Invest for Learning We are still in the “research” phase of this program Need to get a feel for the interest and buy in of families If we do decide to use this program we will start small with just 4th grade

Invest for Learning in a Nut shell School Makes Initial Investment and owns the device until it is paid for Make Payments to Xerox and takes ownership once the device is paid for. Manages the money

Next Steps Read and sign the Responsible Use Agreement. Send the device to school with your child starting in January 2014 Work with the school to ensure that your child is using the device in a way that benefits his or her learning. If you would like your child to bring an internet connected device to school for the purpose of learning.
