2 Our Mission To prepare gifted students for an ever- changing global marketplace where innovation is key and where they must be self- reflective, goal-oriented problem-seekers and solvers.

3 The ALP Program is process-driven. Our ultimate goal is for students to meet the standards. The content and activities help us reach these goals.

9 Prevailing Practices  Gifted students are not expected to make up missed regular classroom work on Target days.  Target homework permitted on Target day.  When students are absent on their Target day, it is their responsibility to get and complete missed work before their next Target day.

12 What is Edmodo?  Free social learning network for teachers, students, schools and districts  Safe and easy way to connect  Exchange ideas  Share content  Access homework and school notices.  District and school subdomains give flexible suite of tools  Monitor usage  Manage users  Communicate across district

13 Secure Platform Ensures Student Safety and Privacy  Closed environment  No private information required from students  Students join classes by the invitation of their teacher only  All communications are archived  Teacher has full management control  Sub domains allow district administrators greater control

14 Teacher Landing Page Teacher is able to Store content for easy sharing Teachers can create Groups for Classes and Clubs Encourage collaboration and participation in classroom discussions Post assignments, reminders, polls, or discussion questions

15 Student View Students can only join groups, they cannot create them Students receive notifications for new assignments, alerts or replies Students can only send messages to the entire group or directly to the teacher

16 Student Sign-Up Student must have group code to register Students are NOT required to give email address

17 Parent Sign-up Parent must have parent code to register. Parents can retrieve parent codes from their child’s Edmodo account.

18 Parent View Parents have a dashboard view of all of their child’s assignments and possibly calendar notices Teachers can send parents messages.

22 Student Responsibilities Use of device is determined by the teacher Students should only use device for the purpose of the activity put forth (for example, research) If device is being used for other reasons (games, not an educational purpose) it can be taken away While communicating on educational Internet sites, students must treat everyone with respect; just like in a classroom setting (digital citizenship will be discussed in class) Students are responsible for his/her own device Students should have devices charged and ready to use

23 The school reserves the right to inspect a student’s personal device if there is a reason to believe that the student has violated Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, or has engaged in other misconduct while using their personal devices AND any violation of policies, procedures, or rules may result in the loss of use of the device Students may not use devices to record, transmit, or post photos, video of a person or persons at school FAQs

24 Every student who participates in BYOD will need to read and sign an agreement that will be turned into administration Student must log on to Cobb County BYOD wireless Internet (not 3G or 4G on phone) The student is responsible for their device at all times (cases or covers are recommended) Student is responsible for proper care of device When the device is not planned to be used, students must turn off device FAQs continued…
