5 How will BYOD work? Students will be able to bring in devices to school and use them at appropriate times for purposeful learning activities. All devices will be using the BYOD wifi network (WAKE-BYOD) It has the same protection, filters, and restrictions as our school network. Students will be expected to adhere to all BYOD expectations and set procedures BYOD is a privilege, not a right!

6 A Day in a BYOD Classroom

7 Guidelines for BYOD- PRotection
The student is solely responsible for any equipment that he/she brings to school. Combs is not responsible for your child’s device. All devices that will be used on the school internet connection and must be registered with the district. We have a “Hands Off” Policy. Devices will not be touched by anyone other than your own child. No staff or other students are allowed to handle your child’s device, except in the event that there is suspected misuse of the device, potentially violating the Acceptable Use and Electronic Devices policy.

8 Guidelines for BYOD- Device Safety
Devices are to stay in your child’s bookbag when it is moving to and from the classroom. Devices should be brought home every day, and return to school fully charged. Please do not send chargers. Classroom will be locked whenever the full class leaves for an activity, specials, lunch, recess, etc. Please label the outside of your child’s device and case with his/her full name.

9 Guidelines for BYOD- Access Safety
Students will only use the websites and apps that are approved by the school on their personal devices. Your teacher will provide you with a list of apps and websites that his/her class will be using throughout the school year. Students are expected to use devices for learning purposes only. No texting or social media is allowed (including with parents)! There will be no printing available to the students- all sharing will be done virtually.
