2. Students in our 5 th grade classrooms are going to receive their own iPad to use during the school day. This allows for even more opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking while mastering 21 st Century skills. As part of that environment, each student will need to have an Apple ID which will provide easy access to school materials, including school managed apps and documents.

3. An Apple ID is required for students to acquire apps and other resources from the Apple Store, as I push them out using our mobile device management system. The installation of apps by students will be disabled. Students under 13 years of age require parental consent in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA).

4. Students may continue to use these IDs at VMS, so creating these at the 5th grade level will help to facilitate the roll out process next year when your children enter middle school.

5. Apple IDs for students under 13 include the following features: Account settings, such as email address and date of birth, cannot be changed. No credit card is attached to the account at setup. Limit Ad Tracking is turned on for the account to ensure the student does not receive targeted advertising from Apple. Students can’t opt-in to receive marketing materials. A parent or guardian can be notified of any significant changes to the terms of the account.

6. Shortly, you will receive an email from Apple asking you to create an Apple ID for your child. Please create it using their school email address: 224####@voorhees.k12.nj.us When setting up the security questions, please keep in mind that the questions and answers should be relevant to your child. Keep a record of this information in a safe place! You will receive a temporary password from Apple—(You will have to scroll through the email to locate it!)—which you may then change. 7. Finally, these Apple ID accounts are then enabled by you, the parent or guardian, on behalf of the student, when verifiable consent is received by Apple. At that point, you will receive a form from us in order for you to provide the district with the information about the Apple ID that it needs to move forward with the distribution of the iPads.
