Bystanders: You Can Make A Difference

Learning Targets Recognize that standing by without helping in a bullying situation encourages a bully to continue harassing the target Understand the seriousness of physical, verbal, social/emotional and cyber bullying Accept responsibility to prevent bullying in your school Refute common excuses for not getting involved when you witness bullying and make a commitment to be a defender Understand the hurtful effects that bullying has on both targets and bystanders Work toward a respectful learning environment that does not tolerate bullying

Why do bystanders choose not to get involved? How does a student report bullying at our school? Tell a teacher or an adult in the building Use the bullying boxes with the forms in each of the pods or at the front of the building.
