2 Bobcats Ban Bullying Respect Others Respect Property Be
Respect Yourself Be Responsible We will not bully others. We will try to help others who are bullied. We will try to include students who are left out. If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will report it to an adult at school and an adult at home.

3 What does Bellflower’s anti-bullying program look like?
Classroom meetings to discuss bullying, what to do if you are being bullied, and what to do if you see bullying happening to others. Bellflower PRIDE Bellflower parents will be invited to learn about the bullying program.

4 What is Bullying? A student is being bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more students.

5 What is Bullying? Saying mean and hurtful things, making fun of others, name calling Ignoring or excluding Hitting, kicking, pushing, shoving Telling lies or spreading false rumors, sending mean notes or s Doing other hurtful things

9 Verbal bullying is done with words.

10 Non-Verbal Bullying Non-verbal bullying can include gestures, eye movements, and mouthing words or threats.

11 What Part Do You Play in Bullying?
Do you bully? Are you a leader? Are you a follower? Do you take an active part in the bullying? Do you stand by and laugh or call attention to the bullying so that others will watch? Do you like the bullying, but don’t do anything to support it?

12 What Part Do You Play in Bullying?
Do you think that the best thing to do is walk away? “It’s none of my business.” Do you dislike the bullying? Do you think you should do something, but don’t know what to do? Do you help or try to help the student who is being bullied?

13 What Part Can You Play? If you are a bystander, you could become a defender. A defender takes bullying seriously. A defender thinks that it is “his business” to try to help the student being bullied. A defender takes responsibility to try to help stop bullying. A defender is a lifesaver.

22 What are Class Meetings?
To TEACH students what bullying means. To help students learn more about themselves, their feelings, and their reactions. To let students share their own experiences and opinions in a safe environment. To help the teacher learn more about their students, their classroom, and to help stop bullying at an early stage.

23 When and Where do Class Meetings Take Place?
Class meetings will be held each week. They will be about 30 minutes in length. Class meetings will be done in your own classrooms with your teacher.

24 Class Meetings Ground Rules
We raise our hands when we want to say something. Everyone has the right to be heard. We let others speak without interrupting. Everyone has the right to pass. We can disagree without being disagreeable or saying mean things: NO PUT DOWNS!

New Quilt for the Commons “Bobcats Ban Bullying!” Created by the students, parent volunteers and staff during school year Designed by Art Teacher, Miss Dorr

28 Be a Buddy, Not a Bully Poster
Objective: Create a colorful, eye catching poster illustrating being kind, friendly or helpful. Must include slogan: “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully!” To be completed on 12x18 paper Each month a different grade level will make the posters and hang from the balcony and around the building.
