Online Teaching for Non-Tech-Savvy Adults

Reach the goal of current online knowledge and desired knowledge to meet the basic technical educational needs of the students. E-Learning to support new forms of teaching and learning Improve initiatives in connecting a learner’s needs to determine their knowledge and skill level of computer systems and programs Goals

Examples of Computer Guidance Can be self paced or instructor led Delivery formats: internet, satellite TV, CD- ROM, intranet, audio or video tape, blogs Media provided: virtual web-based learning, education opportunities and digital collaboration

Searching the Internet Search engines: Yahoo, Google, Bing, Altavista, Ask.com, Lycos, Dogpile…etc. Easy to follow steps that are well organized and demonstrate a clear connection to the learner’s current work skills

Learning Benefits Basic instruction and procedures for learners to utilize and upgrade their computer skills Allow the instructor the option to modify and improve the training module Enhance and refocus the end user training / computer skill set

Students Needs The Instructor wills the ability to reintroduce the module after minor or major updates to basic programs and new technology. Advantage for adults to be in a class composed entirely of other peers, and not feel intimidated in front of younger and more computer fluent students (Morris 1992).
