There are many different eras since the future. There are five Generations. Each Generation gave the computer world something new. There was also many people that helped this and some new inventions that lead up to the invention of today's computers.

Early Computational Devices Early Computers Generations and Main Components Inventors/Developers The Internet

Some of the early Computational devices included Abacus- First calculating and counting tool Punched Cards- Cards used by early computers that held digital information

ENIAC- First general purpose computer EDSAC- Early British computer that was constructed by Marice Williams EDVAC-Stored Program Computer that was one of the earliest electronic computers UNIVAC- First commercial computer product in the U.S.

ENIACEDASAC EDVAC UNIVAC

1 ST Generation ( )- Vacuum tube- these were often enormous, taking up entire rooms. Input was based on punched cards and paper tape. Output was from printers. 2 nd Generation ( )- Transistors- These were invented in 1947, but didn’t become widespread until 1950’s. These were smaller, faster, and more energy efficient then first generation.

3 rd Generation- Integrated Circuits- Transistors were miniaturized and put on a chip. This drastically increased the speed. 4 th Generation (1971-Now)-Microprocessors- Thousands of integrated circuits are put on one chip in microprocessors. 5 th Generation (Now and Beyond)- Artificial Intelligence- This is still in development. The goal is to develop devices that respond to natural language input.

Steve Jobs- Co founder of Apple Steven Wozniak- Co founder of Apple Bill Gates- Chairman of Microsoft Tim Berners Lee- Invented World Wide Web Steve Jobs

Marc Andreesen- Invented the Mosaic Browser Charles Babbage- originated concept of programming John Von Newman- Inspired EDSAC

The birth of the net was in the 1960’s Mosaic was the first internet browser Department of defense created ARPANET ARPANET was the worlds first operational packet switching network

Now you know different eras since the future. You know what each Generation gave the computer world You know the people that helped the computer world and the inventions that lead up to the invention of today's computers.
