AP Chemistry Guidelines I am here to help you succeed on the AP exam. Everything we do is targeted for that purpose. I have a 4 th hour prep, Im usually here during 2nd lunch (except when Im not) and I am here after school. phone number : Work:

Homework Homework is to be finished before you enter the room. I did not get it, is not an acceptable answer. If you do your homework every night I can almost guarantee that you will receive a 3, 4, or 5 on the exam. THIS CLASS IS ABOUT COMMITMENT AND AN ABSOLUTE BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE THE BEST TORO TRADITION CAN PRODUCE!!

Webassign Go to webassign.com and log in with your name smith.john for 3 rd hour. The school is mtnview.az. The password is chemistry which I suggest you change. Webassign uses the following representations [NO3]- or NO3-; 1.4e-06

RULES FOR THE ROAD When I ask questions it is not to torment you (Well-maybe a little ), but to help your brain grow. Only the person asked can answer, do not steal there dendrites.

Extra Credit NONE mostly true!

Late work NOT!! Last year I was pretty lenient about homework. I was a mush. -THIS YEAR I CANT BE. WE ARE LOOKING AT A DIFFERENT SET OF RULES AS AP IS ESSENTIALLY A 1 st YEAR UNIVERITY COURSE. It will be accepted for excused absences only.

Lab You will be safe (goggles ALWAYS) In groups of four each student will turn in an individual Lab Write-up Binder with index and each page numbered. This will be turned in periodically. This will be announced by me beforehand.

Music NO!!- IF EVER (MAYBE DURING TESTS…JUST THE KIND I LIKE!!!!!

Food Only in room NEVER IN LAB NEVER, NEVER, NEVER

Cell phones, IPODS REALLY!!! If you need a phone for emergency-inform me beforehand

Mastery Will be offered at lunch 2 days after the exam and it will be the average of the two exams. Mastery is a gift. If you are absent you will only be taking the mastery exam.

The Syllabus After each lecture the next homework assignment on the syllabus is due the next day. Even if I do not specifically say so. On the day of the exam your homework is to read the next chapter. NO MESSING AROUND HERE. WERE OPERATING AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL. It is best to read the chapter, 3 times. No Kidding!! It is hard to digest everything. TAKE NOTES: I WOULD RECOMMEND A LAB NOTEBOOK. JUST TRYING TO ABSORB BY OSMOSIS WONT WORK

Find a study partner Study for tests with one other partner. This is a method I used all of the way through graduate school. It cuts way down on study time and will get you much better grades. Study groups never work (AND YOU KNOW WHY!!). Never come to a test, kind of knowing the material. Start right in the beginning and stick to it.

AP Exam The AP exam is in the middle of May. Therefore plan to take the SAT, ACT etc. before or after that. Six Saturdays before the national exam will be devoted to reviewing old AP exams from 8 to 11 AM. It is optional, but if you want to succeed you need to be there. THESE REVIEW SESSIONS ARE A BIG DEAL!!

The Final The final is given on the last Saturday before the exam. It is the only way to find the time to give a 3 hour exam. It is an old AP exam and will prepare you more than anything else for the real thing.

Never give Up, Never Surrender!!!!
