This is a STAAR EOC tested course. [1 credit course / full-year course]. Every student will need this class to graduate. STUDENT EXPECTATIONSStudents will be expected to follow the rules for dress, conduct, attendance, and tardy listed in the Student and Parent Handbook Discipline ladder for not following school rules: 1)verbal warning 2) teacher/student discussion or in class write-up 3)call to parent/ parent conference 4) discipline referral ATTENDANCE POLICY Credit Loss- Students must be in class 90% of the time. Students will not receive credit if they miss more than 19 days in a full-year/1 credit course. Tardiness- A student who is not in class after the tardy bell rings and does not have an excused tardy pass, will be marked tardy. If the tardy extends to more than five minutes, then the tardy converts into a credit absence, which is coded as an absence. SUPPLIESStudents will need individual supplies: These items will be needed daily – A 2 inch Binder (1.5 to 2.5 inch is fine one with plastic outer insert) - A composition book or 80 to 100 page spiral notebook -A plastic folder with brackets and pockets (for homework) -Pen or pencil *Other items we will use: markers, color pencils, glue sticks as class supply runs out. GRADESGrade Distributions Six Weeks Grade Distribution 60% Daily Assessments- Daily Work / Homework / Quiz Warm-up/Class Participation 40% Formal Assessments- Tests/ Projects Semester Grade Distribution 80% Six Weeks Average 20% Semester Exam Year Average 50% 1 st Semester 50% 2 nd Semester Progress Reports - Progress Reports will go home with students every 3-4 weeks. Late Work- Pre AP Assignment turned in one day late 10 points off, two Days late 20 points off. No work accepted after day 3. Absent students Must state on assignment the day they were absent. Cheating -Cheating or talking during tests will result with a grade of zero and a call home. Parents please keep this for future reference Pre AP Biology Course
