PRAZE DIVISION (PRogramming, Advocacy, Zionism & Education) WELCOME NEW PRESIDENTS 10/27/2014 PRAZE DIVISION (PRogramming, Advocacy, Zionism & Education) All Initiatives Will: Become Cross-Divisional when appropriate Have an Evaluation & Assessment tool built in Improve Hadassah visibility Reflect input of relevant issues/topics Fulfill Hadassah’s Strategic Alignment Priorities Engage the Grassroots with Programs & Program input Integrate all areas (A, Z, E) when possible Lead to “Programs in a Box” format when doable We were very excited to be given the opportunity to lead this new division in a direction that would positively impact the country. The PRAZE Division—Programming, Advocacy, Zionism and Education, is up and running as of March 28th—PRAZE’s ongoing mission is to reconnect us with Hadassah’s roots which provided the foundation for our practical Zionism. Our division’s major goal is to produce programmatics with integrated elements so they can be more fully used by units in every way possible. Each initiative will be reviewed for essential components that maximize its potential use by the units. The programmatics will engage members, potential members, Associates, donors and supporters. You have just seen two presentations that reflect the mission of the PRAZE Division, Jewish-Zionist Education and Zionist Affairs.

Division Structure T-E-A-M-S Teams for: Advocacy, Zionism, Education Each new Initiative Teams will be fluid based on issues Team members will vary based on needs of each initiative A Task Force helped guide our process; we are committed to a teams structure, which allows more input and flexibility. We have ongoing teams in every area and new teams forming for new initiatives. The teams are fluid – we assess the needs of an initiative and put together a combination of volunteers and staff to serve on that team. In this way, volunteers and staff can multi-task, utilizing their skills and there is flexibility to match the right combination of people to work on a particular issue-driven initiative according to what they have to contribute.

Advocacy Ongoing Teams American Affairs Zionist Affairs UN Team I2I (Influentials to Israel) Attorneys Council (Swearing In Supreme Court Event) Amicus Brief Team Advocacy has been active in many directions—Lauren Katz, our Policy Associate, has been integral to our efforts to improve the turnaround time on Hadassah’s response to advocacy issues and the dissemination of necessary action-oriented information. The other teams have been diligently planning activities you will be hearing more about in the near future.

50 State Advocacy Network We have formed a National Communications Network to help Engage Communities on Advocacy Issues. We will have key people in each state sharing information on issue giving members and communities opportunities to make their voices heard. Members Stand Up Members Stand Together

50 State Advocacy Communications Network Increase advocacy effectiveness on local, state & federal levels Two-way Communication From PRAZE Advocacy Team to units, state by state From units to PRAZE to share where applicable nation-wide Successes shared: Strategies, contact information, etc. PRAZE will maintain communication with network members who will maintain communication with unit leadership Advocacy Team will assess & evaluate issues brought from units The goal is to improve the flow of information and action in both directions – information will be shared and replicated when appropriate. The concept is to service each unit regardless of whether or not they meet face to face, in the same way.

Education Ongoing Teams Jewish/Zionist Education Team Curriculum Watch Health & Wellness Team Hadassah/Hadassah-Brandeis Team We are providing hands-on programmatics for units to present and for individuals to learn and fill the need within them for Jewish education. Our Health and Wellness team will be unveiling Hadassah’s heart health program today. We are proud to report that we have reenergized the Hadassah / Hadassah Brandeis relationship and you will hear all about it in a few minutes.

Hadassah – Hadassah Brandeis Institute Virtual Conversations Members are invited to participate in online book discussions – “Virtual Conversations: A Book and Author Experience.” Participants will hear authors discussing their books. Had: Jennifer Rosner talk about: If a Tree Falls--A Family's Quest to Hear and Be Heard. Had: Talia Carner talk about: Jerusalem Maiden  Discussions occur in real time from members’ homes, with friends or at a meeting. Hadassah was founded as a study group and Brandeis is renown for its dedication to education and lifelong learning.  Our aim is to bring this program to as many of our members as possible and engage them in a program with such a broad reach that offers them inclusivity and exclusivity.

JEWISH/ZIONIST EDUCATION UPDATE Hadassah was founded during Purim, and is Esther’s Hebrew name. The first annual Hadassah Shabbat Zachor, to be held on the Shabbat preceding Purim, was March 14-15, 2014. Please fill out the form below to download our Shabbat Zachor Program in a Box to share with your synagogue. It contains suggested prayers, readings and a d’var torah to celebrate Parshat Zachor, reminding us how evil can be transformed into good, focusing on the victory of Israel over Amalek and of Esther and Vashti over oppression and discrimination. Make Hadassah Shabbat Zachor a memorable one for you, your synagogue, and for Hadassah.

Health and Wellness Team EVERY BEAT COUNTS

Health and Wellness Team EVERY STEP COUNTS: Hadassah’s Walking Program From Pesach to Sukkot… Virtual Walk From Hadassah House to Jerusalem Every Step Counts is an outgrowth of Every Beat Counts: Hadassah’s Heart Health Program. Diane described briefly what is going on with Every Step Counts. So let’s open up discussion.

Reaching a New Audience of Young Women Outside of Hadassah Better Understanding their Needs/What Attracts Them Survey Results Impact our Program Planning Survey Results Shared with All Divisions We have been working with a team from Kveller which is a Jewish parenting website—A questionnaire was created and posted on its website. The data captured will help us create programs to respond to the needs of younger women.

Engaging Each Member In Her Home To Take Action On Her Schedule On Her Computer/Telephone The ability to reach every member, in her home, at a meeting, on her schedule is critical if we are to attract new members. We can actively engage members via phone, cell phone, computer, IPAD and social media. Whether you are part of a big chapter or no chapter, you can participate and learn how Hadassah can impact your life.

Providing Programs for meetings Engaging Each Unit Providing Programs for meetings One of our strongest links nation-wide is the activity level of our units. Through meetings with substance, they educate and excite the members who are able to attend. This builds on our membership base and creates a yearning to become leaders in Hadassah. Jews from Arab Lands was presented to the Presidents and will be posted on the Intranet tomorrow morning. “Jews From Arab Lands” “Go Forth & Study” “EVERY BEAT COUNTS: HADASSAH’S HEART HEALTH PROGRAM” “G-D, Israel & The Heart”

Engaging The Community Share Programs with Other Organizations Invite Outside Community Participation The programs, who can participate, what you can do with them and where to hold them can all have a positive impact on existing and potential members. Take your meeting to a different site; i.e. library, hotel, church where meeting space does not signify Hadassah, but has broader reach. EVERY BEAT COUNTS: HADASSAH’S HEART HEALTH PROGRAM”
