Let’s Start! Pages 136 to 140 March 18, 2011

Facts about GameFactory2(TGF2) Is a game engine developed by Clickteam. Uses Object-oriented programming. Let’s you design 2D video games. Games can be large, multilevel, complex! TGF2 is very powerful. The game engine: ◦Runs very well on PC. ◦Is very user friendly

Menu Bar Contains the pull-down menus. You can select your choice. Works the same as in Microsoft Office.

Standard Toolbar Holds the most common tools fund in the pull-down menus. Display as buttons for easy access. Has: ◦New ◦Open ◦Save ◦Cut ◦Copy ◦Paste ◦Undo ◦Redo ◦Contents (help!)

Navigate Toolbar Will allow you move quickly from one area to another. Has: ◦Back ◦Forward ◦Storyboard Editor ◦Frame Editor ◦Event Editor ◦Previous Frame ◦Next Frame

Run Toolbar Allows you to see how the game works! Allows you to test your game! Has: ◦Run application – test play your game from first frame. ◦Run Frame – test play just the curent page you are designing. ◦Stop – cancel the Run Application or Run Frame.

Editor Toolbar Two basic Editor toolbars. ◦One is displayed frame view ◦One is displayed in event view Which toolbar is displayed depends on which mode or view is currently displayed.

In Frame View Contains the tools needed to view all the aspects of your frame creation and conditional programming. Use Zoom to view your work in greater detail. Use Zoom to also reduce the view.

Center Frame Tool Allows you to quickly have the background view centered on any selected object.

In the event view Displays different tools. You can also use the Zoom tool. Will help you view or exclude from veiw events and objects. Very helpful when designing a large game.

Workspace Window Displays the programming tree for the game. You start with a large file or trunk folders. Next the trunk folder has smaller folders or branches that contain similar items group by categories. Inside each branch folder there are often more folders. Last, actual files or applications at the end of the tree. Allows you quickly access each part of the game. Properties of the item selected is displayed in the Properties Window.

Properties Window Displays the physical features and properties of any selected object or frame. Use to set the size, color, and movement properties.

Library Window Objects preload into TGF2 are loaded into the library. Allows you to quickly drag-and-drop objects from the library into the editor window.

For Today: Open your workbook to Page 119. You are going to develop a new game! The player must ‘eat’ fruit falling from a plane while avoiding balls. Call me when finished for credit.

Homework: Chapter 1 Test – Do you want a higher score. Correct your test! On a separate sheet of paper write down the correct answer for the questions you got wrong. Turn in your test with your correction. Improve your grade!!!!
