3 Presenting Word 2013 What can Word 2013 do?  Provide the right tool for:  Every aspect of document creation  Desktop publishing  Web publishing 3

4 Starting Word Windows 7:  Click Start  Choose Microsoft Office > Microsoft Word 2013 from the All Programs menu. Windows 8:  Locate the Word 2013 tile on the Windows Start screen.  Click the tile to start Word. 4

9 9 Navigating in a Word Document Navigating with the Scroll Bar  lets you browse through documents  does not move the insertion point Navigating with the Keyboard  Arrow keys navigate one space or line at a time  [Page Up] and [Page Down] to go up or down one screen  [Home] and [End] to go to the beginning or end of a line  [Ctrl]+[Home] and [Ctrl]+[End] to go to the beginning or end of the document

10 Closing Documents FROM THE RIBBON  File→Close FROM THE KEYBOARD  [Ctrl]+[F4] to close UPPER-RIGHT CORNER  Close 10

11 Starting a New Document FROM THE RIBBON  File > New FROM THE KEYBOARD  [Ctrl]+[N] to open a new document 11

14 Exiting from Word UPPER-RIGHT CORNER  Close  Close each document. Tip! Turning off your computer before exiting could cause you to lose data. 14
