2 Starting Publisher 2007 Use the Start button on the taskbar to open Publisher Publisher program icon Start button

3 New Document – Using Templates Publication Types You can start a new publication by choosing a publication category in the left window. Depending on what you have selected in the left window, the middle window will display template designs available in that category.

4 New Document – Blank Select the “Blank Page Sizes” option. You can change what is displaying in the middle window by clicking the options at the top. You can also customize color scheme, font scheme, etc.

5 Viewing the Publisher Window The window may or may not display the task pane, rulers, and boundaries and guides.The window may or may not display the task pane, rulers, and boundaries and guides. 6 Using the Task Pane Use the down- pointing arrow to change what displays in the task pane.

7 Objects Toolbar Contains most frequently used buttons. Workspace Page Scratch Area Used to store objects. May not see unless you change viewing size. Page Navigation Shows you the number of pages in a publication. Used to navigate between pages. For multiple pages, there would be an icon for each page. Object Position Coordinates

9 Open file PUBA-1 Objects are elements such as tables, text boxes, geometric shapes, clipart, word art, and picture frames that can be resized, moved, joined, or organized so that one object appears to be in front of another. Text boxes can be wrapped around other objects. The advantage to using text Boxes is that the contents within the box can be easily moved anywhere within a publication.

10 Entering Text in a Text Box A text box is an object. It can be resized and repositioned. 1.To add a text, click the textbox button in the toolbox. 2.The cursor turns to a cross-hair. If you simply click on the page, a default size box is added. If you click and then drag, you decide what size the box will be. 3.Once you have let go, handles will appear around the box. 4.You can then enter the desired text. If you tap F9, the area will enlarge, making it easier to read your text. 5.You can change the size of the box by using the dragging the handles. 6.You can change the font type, size, etc. 7.You can also click on the dotted border and drag the text box to any location on the screen.

12 Getting Help and Changing Personal Information Type a question here. Type a word or a question in the task pane “Search Results” view. Help Button or click (F1)
