By Kriel, Cameron, Aaliya, Beatrice, and Renz Fossil Fuel By Kriel, Cameron, Aaliya, Beatrice, and Renz

How It Works -At first, workers collect some fossil fuel and transfer it to a power plant - The workers burn the fossil fuels to heat water -The steam from the water forces a turbine to spin -And a spinning the turbine will move an electromagnetic axis which generates electricity

Electromagnetic -A natural force coming into being from interactions between charged particles

Video -Here is video of how fossil fuel works

Where It Is Used Fossil fuels are used all around the world They are usually found in rich countries like the USA, China, Japan, India, and Germany The USA uses the most fossil fuel in the world But, there are some countries that have a small sources of fossil fuel like Zimbabwe, Liberia, and Brundi

Cost Fossil fuel costs about 700 billion to 1 trillion dollars each year on coal, oil, and natural gases The amount is estimated to be 23 trillion dollars between the years 2010 to 2030 America spent a lot of money on fossil fuel Examples: 2006-921 billion dollars 2007-more than 360 billion dollars 2008-1 trillion dollars

Environmental And Health Concerns Here are some examples of environmental and health concerns The exhaust from cars, trucks, and other fossil fuel powered things are bad for your heart, brain, and lungs The exhaust is also causing a lot of pollution

Environmental And Health Concerns It could trigger heart attacks, asthma attacks, and it gives you lung disease Oil spills from ships kill many sea creatures such as birds, turtles, and dolphins Some workers get killed by gases or freeze to death underground when they mine coal It carries carbon dioxide, which causes a green house effect It causes global warming Coal also produces carbon dioxide which could create acid rain

Greenhouse Effect There are 2 terms of greenhouse effect There’s a natural one that keeps Earth warm and habitable And there’s a man-made greenhouse effect which enhances the natural greenhouse effect by the addition of the burning fossil fuel, mainly natural gas and coal

Reliability -Fossil fuels aren’t very reliable -Some reasons are -We are running out of oil, natural gas, and coal -It is polluting the air -And it’s the main reason of global warming

Energy Amounts 9.6% of Canada’s energy is coal 24.8% of Canada’s energy is natural gas

Advantages And Disadvatages The advantages of fossil fuel are They can generate great amounts of electricity They are easy to spot when mining Carrying oil and gas to power plants can be easily transferred by pipes Power plants that utilize gas are very efficient Power plants that use fossil fuels can be built anywhere especially in cold places where there is an abundant amount of oil

Utilize and Efficient Utilize-To make an effective use of Efficient-To get the maximum productivity with a minimum wasted of expense

Advantages And Disadvantages A big disadvantage is it causes a lot of pollution Mining coal results in the destruction of the land Mining fossil fuels endangers the lives of many workers Fossil fuel power plants need a large amount of coal to generate electricity The use of natural gases can cause bad odours

End We hope you learned a lot about our presentation This is the end of our presentation, Thank you
