Region 10 Projects for GOLD Members in 2005 Objectives Projects

Objectives - GOLD Projects in 2005  Reenergize activities in IEEE GOLD Affinity Groups.  Networking IEEE GOLD members in Region 10.  Search for new IEEE GOLD leaders and encourage them to participate.  Start up new IEEE GOLD Affinity Groups in most of the Sections in Region 10.  Provide infrastructures for sharing information and experiences.  Provide soft-skills educational activities for GOLD member  Spread IEEE GOLD information to all IEEE Sections.

2005 GOLD Projects l Region 10 GOLD Leadership Workshop l Region 10 GOLD Educational Activities l Student-GOLD Member Transition l Graduate Student – GOLD Member Networking l Region 10 GOLD Website

Region 10 GOLD Leadership Workshop l Objectives l Venue l Kanchanaburi, Thailand l October (Tentative)

Objectives of Region 10 GOLD Leadership Workshop l To form a forum for GOLD Affinity Group leaders to exchange information l To establish networking opportunities for present and future GOLD leaders l To train leadership skills l To form a GOLD working groups or Ad Hoc Committee for regional new GOLD projects

Region 10 GOLD Educational Activities l Aim of the Educational Activities l Actions

Aim of the GOLD Educational Activities l By offering educational opportunities to young IEEE members, IEEE/GOLD can attract attention and regain more young members because of offering a necessary means for more success in the job l As GOLD is not able to create educational offers only out of itself it is looking at other IEEE entities which already offer educational opportunities to their members

Suggest Actions l Tutorials can act as introductions to the field and thus attract new, young GOLD members to the Society. l Free courses let GOLD members have a look at the offerings of the Societies and thus attract interested GOLD members to join Societies.

Student-GOLD Member Transition l Introduction l Creation of Transition l Actions

Introduction l Almost 80% of the membership is lost when they become from students to members. l SAC and GOLD work in their own projects and programs and never with any synergy between committees. l SAC and GOLD the future of IEEE and Societies.

Creation of Transition l Creation of the Ad Hoc Committee “Transition”, l Objective: Create a bridge between GOLD and SAC in order to increase the participation of both Committees and reduce the lost of membership.

Suggested Actions in the Project “Transition” l Encourage Section to form a graduation banquet party for student members and promoting the value of becoming IEEE member or mentoring program. l Track the retention rate from student member to GOLD member l Invite student member to participating the events such as training session organized for GOLD member.

Section Volunteering in GOLD Projects l Invite Section to participating in the 2005 Projects for GOLD members l Affinity Group Forming l GOLD Leadership Workshop Committee l GOLD Educational Activities l Student-GOLD Transition l GOLD Website & Contents
