This year CCSD will continue utilizing Common Core Standards. The mission of the Common Core standards reads… The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy. Please refer to the web site for more information.

Important Papers Please be sure to review all papers with your student that are in your child’s Wolff folder. This folder will be used as our Parent/Teacher folder throughout the year. You will also receive the Wolff Student/Parent Handbook. Please review this book as a few changes have been made. The handbook will help answer many questions about policy and procedure that you may have. After reviewing all information with your student, please sign and return all forms in the Wolff folder.

Differentiated Learning During the first month of school many assessments will be given to see your child’s abilities. After that time students may be asked to complete additional assignments or participate in a variety of learning opportunities based on their ability. Students have the opportunity to move within the groups established based on the current learning needs of the child. This may include switching teachers for a small time block.

Students are assessed on an informal and formal basis. Formal assessments are those that target a particular Common Core Standard and will be used to calculate the student’s report card grades. Some assessments may be given online, through performance assessments, or traditional paper methods.

Classroom Information Homework Folders/Parent-Teacher Folders Your child will bring home a RED homework folder each day. On the left side are papers from class, the school, PTA, etc. These DO NOT need to be returned. On the right side of the folder are assignments that MUST be returned to school each day (unless otherwise noted). Parent-Teacher folders will go home approximately every 2-3 weeks. This folder will contain any tests or other graded work as well as progress reports. This folder is a vital link in our communication throughout the year. Please look at the reports in the folder and return them promptly with any comments or concerns. Please be sure to check out our class web page (my.ccsd.net) to find homework information, classroom information, and web sites to reinforce curriculum content.my.ccsd.net

Classroom Management Students are expected to follow our classroom and school expectations. Our classroom expectations are as follows: Raise your hand and wait to be called on. Always be polite. Keep your hands and objects to yourself. Always try your best. School expectations can be found in the Student/Parent Handbook. Please review them with your child. These are referred to all school year and are important to maintain a successful learning environment. Students displaying inappropriate behavior will be given three verbal warnings to correct the behavior. Should a student continue to display the inappropriate behavior then a citation will be given. A citation will contain the basic information concerning the behavior and is required to be signed and returned to school the next day. I will notify you via or phone call of the citation. This may not happen until after school. Please wait until after three for any comments or clarifications. After a student receives three citations for the same behavior an office referral will be given. An office referral may be given at the discretion of the teacher for any behaviors that pose an immediate safety concern to the student or others around them. Students making positive choices in class and throughout the building may be rewarded with: classroom privileges and/or notes home. **The above rules will be discussed in class during the first week.

If at any time you are concerned, confused, or excited about your child’s learning experiences please follow the established Chain of Command for CCSD, which begins with me. I want your child to enjoy their time in class and leave my classroom ready to take on the world.

Mrs. Gudjonis’ Contact Information Please feel free to contact me with any comments or concerns. My e- mail address is at the top of the weekly homework page or you can call the school and get my voic . Phone calls CANNOT be connected to the classroom during the day and will therefore be sent directly to my voic . I check my voic / in the morning before school and again after school. I will do my best to respond to your message within 24 hours. Also, don’t forget to check out our class home page on the internet. You can access the site by going to my.ccsd.net and searching for my name.

Extra Items Please bring in a plain white t-shirt to be used for field trips. This shirt should be bought bigger than worn currently as it will used throughout the school year. We will be using the computer lab along with the mobile laptop labs. Students will utilize personal headphones for a variety of programs. Please send in a simple pair of headphones to be kept in class. Students will also need a 1 inch, 3 ring white binder.

Loose Ends… Please be sure to stop at the table and sign up if you are interested in helping our classroom. There is an opportunity to help at school as well as a few things that can be done at home. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be the week of December 8, If you have brought in any supplies you are welcome to put your name on the bag and leave them near the calendar. Many items are collected for classroom use.

**Please don’t forget to sign in at the table by the door.
