3 PowerPoint Vocabulary Before creating your presentation, become familiar with PowerPoint terminology…

4 Slide You can use as many slides as you wish in your slide show presentation. Keep in mind the limits of the storage media you will use for transporting your presentation. A page in PowerPoint is called a slide.

5 Slide Show Presentation: A slide show presentation is a series of slides displayed in a sequence. The presentation file contains all the slides for your slide show. The PowerPoint filename extension is “.ppt ”

6 Design Templates Design Templates, in Format menu, allow you to choose from pre-designed slide backgrounds and themes.

7 Slide Master The Slide Master provides a standardized layout and format for your presentation. View / Master / Slide Master

8 Backgrounds You can customize the background Use a picture, colour, texture or fill. Go to Format/ Background/ Fill/ Fill Effects Apply to All or to one slide at a time.

9 Auto Layout Choose layouts for: –headings –text –graphics –charts. Auto Layout appears every time you insert a new slide.

10 Toolbars View/Toolbars Toolbars can be docked anywhere on the screen Toolbars provide icons and tools that you can use.

11 Working Views Outline View Slide View (Working View) Slide-Sorter View Preview Slide Normal View The Outlining Toolbar is docked in the bottom left corner.

12 Outline View Change titles, sub-headings Move slides Add text Add and delete slides Cut, copy and paste slides Change font styles Outline View is found on the left side of the screen view.
