STATISTICS 75% of all home water use is in the bathroom The toilet accounts for 28% of a homes’ water use 75% of electricity that is used by home electronics is consumed while the device is off 90% 0f the energy consumed by a regular light bulb emitted as heat

MORE STATISTICS Water is required to produce most things we consume:  1000 litres of water is needed to produce 1 litre of milk  10 litres of water is needed to make 1 A4 piece of paper  4500 litres of water is needed to produce 1 steak  70 litres of water is required to produce 1 apple  840 litres of water is needed to make 1 pot of coffee

WATER SAVING TIPS Shortening your showers by 2 minutes will save litres of water /year Install low flow shower heads Place a small sand filles water bottle in your toilet tank and you will save litres of water/year Wait until the dishwasher is full before using it Use a bucket to wash your car Use a pot of water to wash your vegetables and fruit

ENERGY SAVING TIPS Replace your light bulb to energy saving ones. Uses only 18% of the energy to run compared to a high powered light bulb Lower the temp on water heaters Put air conditioners on 24 degrees celsius (most efficient temperature) & close windows, doors and curtains to maintain temp Use microwaves as opposed to ovens wherever possible (use 70% less energy) Use fans when possible

REDUCE, RECYCLE, REUSE Recycling uses less energy then making items from scratch Recycling one aluminum can, will save 95% of the energy needed to make a completely new can It takes 100 years for a single aluminum can to decompose By recycling 1 tonne (1000kg) of paper, 17 trees are saved Recycling just one glass bottle can save enough energy to run your TV for 90 minutes
