Components

Identity Project Components: Name cover using magazine letters Magazine picture with written component Name acronym page Family Picture page with written component Drawing with explanation Autobiographical poem

Name Cover Cut out letters (1 inch) from your magazines to form your FIRST and LAST name. Place letters in an envelope. The cover does not have to be only 1 color. You can use a variety of color construction paper to design it. Decide the cover design BEFORE you begin pasting anything! Please make sure that the letter cut outs that form your name all fit on the cover BEFORE you paste it. You might need to find smaller letters in the magazines if it does not. Use only glue (not tape) to attach the letters to cover. Try to get most of the cover done during class and finish it for homework. CLEAN UP AROUND YOUR DESKS!!!

Magazine Page Choose a picture from a magazine that you feel best identifies with you. It can be a picture of something you like or a picture that caught your attention. Decide on the design of the page and then paste the picture onto a color construction paper of your choice using a glue stick (not Elmer’s liquid glue). In an 8 sentence paragraph in your notebook or on looseleaf, explain why you chose this picture. What aspect of the picture appeals to you and why? How does this picture identify with you? TYPE THE PARAGRAPH FOR H.W. and paste it onto the magazine page along with your magazine picture.

Name Acronym Page Write your first name vertically or horizontally on construction paper using the letter stencils. If more than one person has the same name in the class, then use the first initial of your last name too. Think of adjectives that begin with the letters in your name. Decide on the design of the page and make sure everything fits BEFORE pasting or tracing anything with marker. Finish this page for homework and decorate it if you like without covering the letters!

Family Picture Page Make sure to have a family picture. Decide on the design of your page before pasting anything. Write an 8 sentence paragraph naming and describing the individuals in the picture from left to right. Explain where you all where you all were and what you were doing when the picture was taken. Why did you choose this picture from the others? What memories come to mind when you see this picture? How do you feel about your family? How important are they in your life? TYPE THE PARAGRAPH FOR H.W. and paste the picture and the paragraph on the construction paper.

Drawing Page & Essay Draw something that represents YOU. Think symbolically. For instance, if you are a calm person that enjoys the simpler things in life, maybe you can draw a picture of a beach. You can draw one image or a series of images. COLOR IT!!! Decide on the design of your page before tracing anything onto the construction paper with marker. Write a paragraph (8 sentences) naming and describing what you drew. Explain how the picture or each item drawn with it represents or resembles you. How does what you draw relate to you and who you are? TYPE PARAGRAPH FOR H.W.!

Autobiographical Poem Decide on the design of this page and then paste the toddler and recent picture of yourself. You will need to formulate a 10 line poem mentioning some personal aspects of your life. For instance, you can mention your siblings, adjectives to describe yourself, things you love, things you hate, things you fear, etc. You can follow the guide provided by the teacher or you can create your own. Most of the poem should be completed during this class period. The poem must be completed and TYPE IT FOR HOMEWORK.
