Girl Scout Law and Promise October 7, 2014: Meeting Notes Girl Scout Law and Promise Every girl that memorized the law and promise will earn the special Girl Scout Hand Signal pin for their vest. The Girl Scout Law I will do my best to be      honest and fair,      friendly and helpful,      considerate and caring,      courageous and strong, and      responsible for what I say and do, and to      respect myself and others,      respect authority,      use resources wisely,      make the world a better place, and      be a sister to every Girl Scout. The Girl Scout Promise On my honor, I will try:      To serve God and my country,      To help people at all times,      And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

My Promise, My Faith Every year a Girl Scout is eligible to earn their My Promise, My Faith pin. This pin we won’t be earning as a troop, but I’m available to help if needed. Find out more at our website www.troop6755.weebly.com. Investiture Ceremony At our next meeting, we will be holding our yearly Investiture and Rededication Ceremony. We would love for you to attend! Included in this paperwork is your invitation.  Uniforms I have passed out the uniforms today for everyone who paid by 9-30-14. (If you paid after, your uniform will arrive before the next meeting.) Most Girl Scout patches are iron-on. Some feel as though hand sewing the badges makes them last longer. This is completely up to you. Girl Scouts recommends these iron-on steps to create longer lasting patches: Remove from package. Pre-heat iron for 5 minutes on high setting. DO NOT USE steam.

3. Iron area of garment where patch will be placed for 25 seconds. 4. Place patch in desired location on garment. 5. Place lightweight press-cloth over patch. Use a back and forth motion, press firmly with iron for 25 seconds. DO NOT apply hot iron directly to embroidered area. There may be some color transfer onto the press cloth. 6. Turn garment inside out. Place the cloth under the patch. Using a back and forth motion, iron the back side of the patch for 45 seconds while pressing firmly. Some color transfer may occur. 7. Turn garment right side out. Place the press-cloth over the emblem. Iron the edges of the patch (outside the stitching) to ensure that they are properly sealed. DO NOT apply hot iron directly to embroidered area. 8. Allow to cool thoroughly. LAUNDERING: Machine wash warm, cool rinse, DO NOT use bleach. Tumble dry low, remove promptly. DO NOT dry clean. Calendar I’ve contacted Sharing Life and Evergreen in Mesquite for possible community service projects. I’ll let you know when we add that to the calendar. We did add FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31st for a quick, afterschool birthday party for Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts. It will be in the library until 3:25.

Also, mark your calendars for SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13th Also, mark your calendars for SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13th. I am hosting a Girl Scout sleepover at my house to accomplish our Legacy Badge: Cook. We’ve had a great time getting to know each other and learning about Girl Scouting! As always, contact me if you have any questions.  Buffie Massey 469-964-8562
