The amendments There are 27 amendments to the Constitution. The 1 st ten Amendments are called the “Bill of Rights”. The 27 th Amendment was added in 1992.

STATE GOVERNMENTS State governments provide a wide range of services, some examples: - maintain law and order - enforce the law - protect property - provide public health and welfare programs - build and maintain highways (infrastructure) The states have the main responsibility for public education

LOCAL GOVERNMENTS The Constitution does not define the power of a local government. Local governments are created by the state and have only those powers that the state gives them.
