Home-School Communication    Response within 24 hours Call the office for last minute changes during the day

Home-School Communication Tests and Quizzes  Will be sent home after all make-ups are completed Missed assignments Think Sheets Progress Reports  Sent home during quarter  Area of concern or as a follow-up Report Cards Review, sign, and return the next school day

Grades Archdiocese of Washington Grading Scale  93 to 100 = A  85 to 92 = B  77 to 84 = C  70 to 76 = D  Below 70 = F Honor Roll – begins in fifth grade  High Honor Roll – A’s in Reading, English, Math, Science, Religion, and Social Studies  Honor Roll – A’s or B’s in Reading, English, Math, Science, Religion, and Social Studies

Assignments Morning Work & Journals  Must be completed even if absent or late  Credit assignments Graded assignments (class work and homework), quizzes, tests, and projects  Weighted equally  Late assignments – penalized one letter grade Credit assignments  Full credit – completed on time and according to directions  Partial credit – turned in late and/or not completed according to directions An assignment is considered late if not turned in when it is collected or reviewed

Behavior Techniques Traffic Light  Star- Showing behavior that is above and beyond  Green- Showing behavior that expresses readiness, respect, and responsibility  Yellow- The child has been given two verbal warnings; 2 minutes off recess  Red- The child has not followed the school code of conduct, therefore he/she needs to fill out a think sheet; 7 minutes off recess

Absences Send a note/ Illness/Injury  Absent Folder given to student upon return Work must be completed and returned in the folder by the given due date Assessments must be completed within one week of return to school  Check the homework page online Band – Tuesdays  Band Buddy  Missed work must be made up that night in addition to homework assignment  Missed assessments Must be made up on Tuesday or Wednesday

Absences - Vacations Vacations  As stated in the handbook, “Parents must provide written notice to the school, in advance, of time that will be missed for vacations, trips, etc. Parents are encouraged to plan vacations and trips around school holidays. The faculty and administration will not be held responsible for class work, homework and tests missed by the student during this time. Teachers are not obligated to provide tutorial help for time missed. It is the responsibility of the student to make up missed work within one week after returning to school.”  All work will be provided upon return – Absent Folder Homework Website Work must be completed and turned in within one week of return Assessments must be made up within one week of return
