NEWS RELEASE EXAMPLES Log onto the Montgomery County Schools website. Click departments (located at the top of the page) Click Public relations Click on the link provided Once on the PR page you will see on the right side of the page a link to news releases. Examine a couple of news releases Be sure to examine the news release titled “New Officers in Police Department” This is the format you will need to follow in order to create your news releases.

MEDIA AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS This is where you get to be creative… MEDIA Come up with 4 newsworthy topics/ideas that you can create a news release for. Remember you are providing information about our school district to new residents. Create 4 news release documents.

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES EXAMPLES Check out the Promotions and Advertisements on the PR webpage Check out the Chamber Magazine It will have lots of community info you might be able to use (ex: population, etc.)

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES Again be creative here. (There may be a chance that some of your material/creations could be used!) Come up with 4 different promotional activities and the documents needed for each. This could be: newspaper ads, brochures, flyers, billboard ads, radio ads, TV ads, etc. Something you could give relators to give to new residents. Whatever you choose- you should have a consist theme throughout. All should have the same colors, logo, school info., etc. You may want to download Word in your google apps- you should be able to create brochures and flyers. 4B- you may search and/or use any program available that you are comfortable using.

FINISH UP You should have the following information within your PR package: 1.Creative Brief 2.Mini Outline 3.Campaign Focus- statement/description and rationale 4.4 different news releases (you should have 4 total (on 4 different pages)). 5.4 different promotional materials (keep in mind that your promotional materials should reflect your objective: provide information about Montgomery County Schools to new residents). Once you are finished turn in on google classroom! This will be due no later than March 13 (4A) and March 16 (4B).

IF YOU FINISH EARLY… You need to complete any/all missing work!!!!
