In 2005, CIPHI identified the need for ongoing professional development as part of its 5 year strategic plan Professional development model would need defined competencies Mandatory membership identified as necessary for advancement of the profession Background

Volunteer organization, executive Perceived negativity around competencies and change Invisible or foggy profession Challenges

Establishment of Strategic Directions and partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada Program for Mandatory Professionalism –Establishment of core competencies Mandatory Membership –Secured legal titles for CPHI(C) through Industry Canada Changes to CIPHIs constitution and legal challenges Progress
